Opportunities for Young Reiners
The USEF Youth Reining Championships and Adequan® FEI North American Junior and Young Rider Championships are great opportunities for NRHyA members to compete for prizes and to make new friends!
USEF Youth Reining Championships
The USEF Youth Reining Championships are divided into three age divisions: 13 and under 14-18 and 19-21.
Riders compete at designated reining competitions called USEF Youth Reining Championship Qualifiers throughout the country from May 16 until May 15 of the following year. Riders in the top twenty in their age division in points earned during this period are invited to the USEF Youth Reining Championships that will be held at the NRHA Derby Show on June 30th, 2012.Adequan FEI North American Junior and Young Rider Championships (NAJYRC)
The NAJYRC is a competition between teams from the United States, Canada and Mexico. Riders compete on teams and as individuals for Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in both a Junior division (riders ages 14-18) and a Young Rider division (riders ages 16-21). This event is held along with the Adequan FEI North American Junior Young Rider Championships in Eventing, Show Jumping, Dressage and Endurance. Horses must be at least six-years-old to be eligible to compete.
Riders interested in competing at the NAJYRC can qualify at the NRHA Derby Show by entering the Selection Trials (this is the same go as the USEF Youth Reining Championships). After qualifying at the Selection Trials riders are selected for a regional or breed team. If there are spaces available on teams after the Selection Trial riders have been placed, a rider can compete without attending the Selection Trials – riders who attend the Selection Trials are placed on their regional or breed teams first.
